Construction Worker Charged with Kidnapping and Rape from Club Marquee

From the Daily News by Melissa Grace and Rich Schapiro

A Queens construction worker was indicted Wednesday on charges he abducted a drunken woman from a posh Manhattan nightclub and raped her.

Prosecutors say Luis Zambrano, 39, started kissing and fondling the 23-year-old woman when he found her passed out on a couch inside Marquee in Chelsea last March.

Zambrano then dragged the woman, who couldn't stand or walk on her own, out of the club and drove her to his apartment in College Point, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau said.

Inside his home, Zambrano sexually assaulted the victim twice, Morgethau said.

Zambrano, who was convicted on harrassment charges last year, was busted for the rape after investigators linked him to DNA found on the victim, authorities said.

He was arraigned on a slew of charges, including kidnapping, rape and sexual abuse.

After pleading not guilty, Zambrano left the courthouse after posting $30,000 bail.
